Fiscal Detail and Notes
Establishing a new voluntary checkoff line on the Maine state tax return to fund cancer screening, detection and prevention will result in approximately $22,569 in contributions per fiscal year starting in 2012-13.  The bill includes a one-time appropriation to Maine Revenue Services of $11,000 in 2012-13 to update computer programming and an ongoing appropriation of $5,080 starting in 2012-13 to perform data entry, manage data reports and for additional printing associated with the new income tax checkoff. The bill also provides an allocation of $22,569 in 2012-13 for the Comprehensive Cancer Screening, Detection and Prevention Fund program in the Department of Health and Human Services.
