Amend the amendment in section 5 in §2404 in subsection 2 by striking out all of paragraphs D and E (page 5, lines 13 to 22 in amendment) and inserting the following:

D For a school administrative unit with an enrollment of 500 or fewer students, a public charter school, unless authorized by a school administrative unit, may not enroll more than 2% of a school administrative unit's noncharter public school students per grade level.
E For a school administrative unit with an enrollment of more than 500 students, a public charter school, unless authorized by a school administrative unit, may not enroll more than 3% of a school administrative unit's noncharter public school students per grade level.

Amend the amendment in section 5 in §2405 in subsection 9 in the 2nd line (page 8, line 38 in amendment) by striking out the following: " 10-year" and inserting the following: ' 6-year'

Amend the amendment in section 5 in §2405 in subsection 9 in the 5th line (page 9, line 1 in amendment) by striking out the following: " 10" and inserting the following: ' 3'

SUMMARY

This amendment permits 3 public charter schools over a period of 6 years instead of 10 schools over a period of 10 years. The amendment also reduces the maximum enrollment to 2% from 5% of a school administrative unit's noncharter students for school administrative units with an enrollment of 500 or fewer students and to 3% from 10% for school administrative units with an enrollment of more than 500 students.
