Resolve, To Require Dementia Care Training in Long-term Care Facilities, Adult Day Care Programs, Certain Residential Care Facilities and Supported Living Arrangements

Sec. 1. Department of Health and Human Services to amend rules. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services shall amend the rules for licensing long-term care facilities, as defined in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 22, section 7942, subsection 3, and adult day care programs, as defined in Title 22, section 8601, and for certifying residential care facilities and supported living arrangements to require that all administrators and direct care staff complete 8 hours of dementia care training in order to work in those long-term care facilities, adult day care programs, residential care facilities and supported living arrangements and to require that documentation of satisfaction of the training requirement is a condition of licensure for the long-term care facilities and adult day care programs and a condition of certification for the residential care facilities and supported living arrangements.
