An Act To Amend the Laws Governing County Jail Budgeting for York County

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §911  is enacted to read:

§ 911 Certain expenditures relating to the county jail in York County

Notwithstanding section 924, subsection 3, the county commissioners of York County may use revenue generated from boarding prisoners in the county jail in York County for any county expense. The county commissioners shall use money from the budget of the county jail in York County to pay the cost of payroll expenses for administrative services that are properly allocated to the county jail in York County.

Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §939  is enacted to read:

§ 939 Debt service for county jail in York County

The county commissioners of York County shall pay the cost of debt service for the county jail in York County from the budget of the county jail in York County.

This bill provides that the county commissioners of York County may use revenue generated from boarding prisoners in the county jail in York County for any county expense. It requires the county commissioners to use money from the budget of the county jail in York County to pay the cost of payroll expenses for administrative services that are properly allocated to the county jail in York County.
