An Act To Provide Free Admission to State Parks to Veterans and Military Personnel

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §1819, last ¶,  as enacted by PL 1997, c. 678, §13, is amended to read:

Any A disabled veteran displaying on the veteran's motor vehicle special designating plates or placards issued in accordance with Title 29-A, section 523, subsections 1 and 2 , an active member of the Armed Forces of the United States who presents a valid United States Department of Defense identification card or a former member of the Armed Forces of the United States who presents documentation including valid discharge papers or a United States Department of Veterans Affairs identification card that confirms the person is a former member of the Armed Forces of the United States is not required to pay a fee for admission to any state-owned park, camping area or beach.

This bill allows for free admission for any active duty member or veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States to any state-owned park, camping area or beach.
