Amend the bill in section 1 in §1242 in subsection 1 by striking out all of the first paragraph (page 2, lines 1 to 3 in L.D.) and inserting the following:

‘ 1.  Counseling.   A health care professional who provides expedited partner therapy shall provide counseling for the patient, including advice that all women and symptomatic persons, and in particular women with symptoms suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease, are encouraged to seek medical attention. The health care professional shall also provide written materials provided by the department to be given by the patient to the sexual partner that include at a minimum the following:’

Amend the bill in section 1 in §1242 in subsection 1 in paragraph G in the last line (page 2, line 22 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " ; and" and inserting the following: ' ;'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §1242 in subsection 1 by inserting after paragraph G the following:

‘ H.  Advice to all women and symptomatic persons, and in particular women with symptoms suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease, to seek medical attention; and’

Amend the bill in section 1 in §1242 in subsection 1 in paragraph H in the first line (page 2, line 23 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " A to G" and inserting the following: ' A to H'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §1242 in subsection 1 by relettering the paragraphs to read consecutively.

SUMMARY

This amendment adds to the counseling requirements for expedited partner therapy advice regarding seeking medical attention.
