An Act To Allow a Senior Hunter To Take an Antlerless Deer in Any Zone Designated by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10853, sub-§1-B  is enacted to read:

1-B Residents 70 years of age or older; antlerless deer.   Notwithstanding section 11152, any resident of the State who is 70 years of age or older and possesses a valid resident license may take an antlerless deer during the open season on deer. The department shall designate which hunting zones are open to the taking of antlerless deer by a resident who is 70 years of age or older based on the department’s management of the deer herd statewide.

This bill allows a resident of the State who is 70 years of age or older to lawfully take an antlerless deer during the open season on deer. The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall designate which hunting zones are open to the taking of antlerless deer by a resident who is 70 years of age or older.
