Resolve, Authorizing Coverage of Enteral Formula under the MaineCare Program

Sec. 1. MaineCare rules, coverage for enteral formulas. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services shall amend the rules for the MaineCare program by October 1, 2009 to provide as a benefit coverage for prescribed medically necessary enteral formulas to apply to all Medicaid populations.

SUMMARY

This resolve requires the Department of Health and Human Services to amend the MaineCare rules to require coverage for all Medicaid populations for medically necessary enteral formulas and is modelled after the New York State Medicaid program, which has authorized such coverage since 1997.
