Amend the bill by inserting after section 11 the following:

‘Sec. 12. Withdrawal of municipality from proposed regional school unit. Notwithstanding the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 1517, the residents of a municipality that is part of a school administrative unit may use the procedures set forth in Title 20-A, section 1517 to withdraw from a proposed regional school unit prior to the formation of the regional school unit.

SUMMARY

This amendment clarifies that the procedures set forth for withdrawal from a regional school unit are available to a municipality prior to the formation of the regional school unit.
