An Act To Improve Electrical Safety
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2362 is enacted to read:
§ 2362. Nonlicensed electrical work
If an individual who is not licensed under Title 32, chapter 17 installs or alters an electrical system or equipment, the installation or alteration must be inspected by a person licensed under Title 32, chapter 17 or an inspector of buildings or deputy inspector appointed under section 2351.

This bill requires that electrical work performed by a nonlicensed individual be inspected by a licensed electrician or a municipal code enforcement officer.
