An Act Relating to Safe and Effective Use of Casco Bay Bridge

Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §403  is enacted to read:

§ 403.  Casco Bay Bridge; time-of-day restrictions on raising

The Department of Transportation shall adopt rules placing time-of-day restrictions on the raising of the drawbridge, known as the Casco Bay Bridge, that carries Route 77 over the Fore River and connects the cities of Portland and South Portland. The Department of Transportation shall take into consideration morning and evening workweek commuting hours when adopting the rules. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill directs the Department of Transportation to adopt rules placing time-of-day restrictions on the raising of the Casco Bay Bridge, a drawbridge that carries Route 77 over the Fore River, connecting the cities of Portland and South Portland.
