An Act To Increase Public Participation in the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund Board

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10308, sub-§2,  as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is amended to read:

2. Terms.   The Governor shall appoint citizen members to staggered 4-year terms. Appointed citizens may not serve more than 2 consecutive 4-year terms. A specific organization may not be represented on the board for more than 2 consecutive 4-year terms without a break in service.

Sec. 2. Application. This Act does not apply to a member serving on the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund Board on the effective date of this Act until the expiration of that member's term.

This bill prohibits a specific state sportsmen's organization or a specific state wildlife conservation organization from being represented on the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund Board for more than 2 consecutive 4-year terms without a break in service.
