An Act To Modify Lobster License Fees

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6421, sub-§8,  as amended by PL 2003, c. 20, Pt. WW, §2, is repealed and the following enacted in its place:

8 Exception.   The fee for a license for applicants 70 years of age or older is:
A For a Class I or an apprentice lobster and crab fishing license, $56; and
B For a Class II lobster and crab fishing license, $145.

summary

Currently a person 70 years of age or older is eligible to pay a fee of $56 for a lobster and crab fishing license. If that individual wants a helper, the fee increases to $228.50. This bill decreases the fee for a Class II license, which allows for the hiring of a helper, from $228.50 to $145 for a person 70 years of age or older.
