An Act To Provide for Punitive Damages against Drunk Drivers
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1455 is enacted to read:
§ 1455. OUI conviction
Punitive damages must be determined and awarded to an individual who brings an action for an injury incurred in a motor vehicle accident in which the negligent party was convicted of operating under the influence under Title 29-A, section 2411 if the individual presents a certified copy of the conviction to the court.
