An Act To Provide for Punitive Damages against Sex Offenders
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1455 is enacted to read:
§ 1455. Sex offenses
Punitive damages must be determined and awarded to an individual who is the victim of a gross sexual assault under Title 17-A, section 253 and who brings an action against the person convicted of committing the gross sexual assault if the individual presents a certified copy of the conviction to the court.
