Fiscal Detail and Notes
This amendment restricts the provision that allows a teacher who has at least 25 years of creditable service but had their employment terminated prior to retirement because their position was eliminated as a result of the closure of the school where the teacher was employed to have a second opportunity to rejoin the teacher group health plan after retirement to School Administrative District No. 10.
As amended, this bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $4,373 in fiscal year 2006-07 to the Retired Teachers' Health Insurance program within the Department of Education for the cost associated with the State providing 45% of the cost of the annual premiums for two former employees that have been identified as being eligible under this provision effective September 1, 2006.  Additional General Fund appropriations may be required if other former employees are identified.
