Fiscal Detail and Notes
This amendment does two things.  It corrects the fiscal note for the committee amendment which had appropriations for the Judicial Department starting in fiscal year 2007-08 when they should have started in fiscal year 2006-07 and it deappropriates from the Department of Corrections to reflect savings in that agency.  The savings in the Department of Corrections are $36,355 annually beginning in fiscal year 2006-07.  The costs to the Judicial Department are $36,355 in fiscal year 2006-07 for half a year and $73,871 annually thereafter for court appointed attorneys at $50/hour.  Saving in Corrections will come from reduced overtime of probation officers and reduction of $19,690 of expenditures in the County Jail Prisoner Support and Community Corrections Fund.  Because the reduction in overtime in fiscal year 2006-07 is for half a year only, the department has agreed to delay purchasing cars to allow some additional savings to accrue in fiscal year 2006-07 only.
The numbers in the table above reflect the incremental changes this amendment makes to the bill as engrossed.  As amended, the overall impact is a net cost to the General Fund of $37,516 annually beginning in fiscal year 2007-08.
