Fiscal Detail and Notes
Beginning in fiscal year 2005-06, redirecting revenue from fines assessed by the courts for underage tobacco sales from the Criminal Justice Academy to the Department of the Attorney General will result in an estimated annual increase of $10,000 in dedicated revenue to the Department of the Attorney General and a corresponding reduction in dedicated revenue to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy within the Department of Public Safety.  This bill will require an Other Special Revenue Funds allocation to the Department of the Atttorney General of $10,000 annually and a corresponding deallocation to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.  The new allocation will be used by the Department of the Attorney General to support enforcement and responsible retailing education programs.
