Fiscal Detail and Notes
The Labor Relations Board within the Department of Labor will require additional Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $27,837 beginning in fiscal year 2005-06 for the increased activity of both the Labor Board and the Board of Arbitration and Conciliation that is anticipated due to the increase in the number of collective bargaining grievances that may be filed as a result of this legislation.  The projected increase in costs is expected to be offset by an increase in dedicated revenues associated with fees collected from the interested parties.
The University of Maine System estimates the additional cost associated with the increase in the number of arbitration cases to be approximately $75,000 per year. These costs can be absorbed by the System utilizing existing budgeted resources.  The additional costs to the Maine Maritime Academy and the Maine Community College System can also be absorbed within existing resources.
