Whereas, Atlantic salmon populations in the Pleasant River have
dwindled in recent years; and

 
Whereas, those populations are at an all-time low with little
hope of change in the near future; and

 
Whereas, population sizes such as those on the Pleasant River
are not sufficient in number to create a viable new population;
and

 
Whereas, the federal restoration plan for the Pleasant River
will take an estimated 35 years or more; now, therefore, be it

 
Sec. 1. Restoration of Atlantic salmon population in Pleasant River. Resolved: That
the Department of Marine Resources shall use existing aquaculture
technology to accomplish the restoration of Atlantic salmon to
the Pleasant River within 5 years in sufficient quantity to allow
sport fishing and viable numbers for spawning.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve directs the Department of Marine Resources to use
existing aquaculture technology to accomplish the restoration of
Atlantic salmon to the Pleasant River.
