Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 38 MRSA §488, sub-§23 is enacted to read:

 
23.__Structure area within campgrounds.__Buildings, roads,
paved areas or areas to be stripped or graded and not revegetated
that are located within a campground that exceeds 30 acres in
total acreage are not counted toward the 3-acre threshold
described in section 482, subsection 6, paragraph B for purposes
of determining jurisdiction.__Buildings, roads, paved areas or
areas to be stripped or graded and not revegetated that are
located within a campground that exceeds 30 acres in total
acreage may not exceed 10% of the total campground acreage.__For
purposes of this subsection, "campground" means a recreational
camping park where fees are charged for the recreational use of
the park that can accommodate 10 or more temporary living
quarters, including, but not limited to, tents, recreational
vehicles, trailers, vans, pickup campers and motor homes.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill exempts campgrounds that exceed 30 acres in total
acreage from the 3-acre maximum impervious surface area
restriction in the site location of development laws. The bill
allows campgrounds that exceed 30 acres in total acreage to have
impervious surfaces that do not exceed 10% of the total
campground acreage.
