Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §1832, sub-§5, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 678, §13, is
amended to read:

 
5. User fees. The Except as provided in subsection 6, the
bureau may charge reasonable fees to defray the cost of
constructing and maintaining overnight campsites and other
camping and recreation facilities.

 
Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §1832, sub-§6 is enacted to read:

 
6.__Seboomook Lake purchase exception. The bureau may not
allow an access gate to be operated on or fees to be__charged for
camping or day use on the Seboomook Lake purchase.__For the
purposes of this section, "Seboomook Lake purchase" means the
land surrounding Seboomook Lake and__Canada Falls Lake that was
transferred to the bureau in December 2003 and is commonly
accessed via the road traversing Pittston Academy Grant, T2 R4
NBKP.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill prohibits the operation of an access gate and the
charging of camping or day use fees on certain lands recently
acquired and managed by the Department of Conservation, Bureau of
Parks and Lands. It defines the Seboomook Lake purchase.
