Sec. 1. Long-term care nursing education pilot program. Resolved: That the
President of the Maine Community College System shall establish a
pilot program for the education of registered nurses who have
expressed a preference for future employment in long-term care.
The pilot program must be established at 4 community college
locations, including Kennebec Valley Community College in
Fairfield, in different regions of the State for the education at
each site of 8 registered nurses. Notwithstanding the Maine
Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 12743, subsection 1,
funding for the pilot program must be provided equally from the
Health Care Training Fund, established in Title 20-A, section
12743, subsection 1, and from funds donated by the private
sector, including nursing facilities.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the President of the Maine Community
College System to establish a pilot program for the education of
registered nurses who are interested in employment in long-term
care. The pilot program would be operated at 4 community college
locations across the State and would be funded equally from the
Health Care Training Fund and from private donations.
