Sec. 1. Eating disorder program. Resolved: That the Commissioner of
Health and Human Services, the Maine Hospital Association and the
Superintendent of Insurance, in consultation with the Maine
Medical Center, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and
Goodall Hospital, shall develop a plan to create a partnership
between the State and hospitals throughout the State to identify
and treat eating disorders in young women; and be it further

 
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That no later than November 2, 2005, the
Commissioner of Health and Human Services shall submit a report,
including findings and recommended legislation, for presentation
to the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services and
the Legislative Council. Following receipt and review of the
report, the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services
may report out a bill to the Second Regular Session of the 122nd
Legislature.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve directs the Commissioner of Health and Human
Services, the Maine Hospital Association and the Superintendent
of Insurance, in consultation with several hospitals throughout
the State, to develop a plan to create a partnership between the
State and hospitals throughout the State to identify and treat
eating disorders in young women. A report on the plan must be
submitted to the Second Regular Session of the 122nd Legislature.
