1. Membership. The task force consists of the following 7 members:

A. Two members of the Senate, one of whom must be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs and one of whom must be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice, appointed by the President of the Senate;

B. Two members of the House of Representatives, one of whom must be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs and one of whom must be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice, appointed by the Speaker of the House;

C. A representative who is an educator in an alternative school environment, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives;

D. A member of the public who is the parent of a child in an alternative school environment, appointed by the President of the Senate; and

E. The Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's designee.

2. Chairs. The first named Senate member is the Senate chair of the task force and the first named House of Representatives member is the House chair of the task force.

3. Appointments; meetings. All appointments must be made no later than 30 days following the effective date of this resolve. The Executive Director of the Legislative Council must be notified by all appointing authorities once the selections have been made. When the appointment of all members has been completed, the chairs of the task force shall call and convene the first meeting of the task force no later than 10 days after all members have been appointed.

4. Duties. The task force shall study alternative secondary education.
