Sec. 1. Prior authorization not required for Medicaid reimbursement for certain drugs.
Resolved: That the Department of Human Services may not require
prior authorization to provide Medicaid reimbursement for drugs
for the treatment of the following conditions: cancer, human
immunodeficiency virus, mental illness, asthma, hypertension,
diabetes, migraine, epilepsy, arterial lateral sclerosis,
arthritis and Alzheimer's disease.

 
SUMMARY

 
The purpose of this resolve is to allow prompt Medicaid
reimbursement for certain drugs in order to aid some of the
State's most vulnerable patients, including children, the poor,
elderly, sick and disabled who are covered by the Medicaid
program. This resolve prohibits the Department of Human Services
from requiring prior authorization to provide Medicaid
reimbursement for drugs for the treatment of cancer, human
immunodeficiency virus, mental illness, asthma, hypertension,
diabetes, migraine, epilepsy, arterial lateral sclerosis,
arthritis and Alzheimer's disease.
