Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 18-A MRSA §5-418, as enacted by PL 1979, c. 540, §1, is
amended to read:

 
§5-418. Inventory and records

 
Within 90 days after his following a conservator's
appointment, every the conservator shall prepare and file with
the appointing court a complete inventory of the estate of the
protected person together with his the conservator's oath or
affirmation that it is complete and accurate so far as he the
conservator is informed. The A conservator shall provide a copy
thereof of the completed inventory to the protected person if he
the person can be located, has attained the age of 14 years, and
has sufficient mental capacity to understand these matters, and
to any parent or guardian with whom the protected person resides.
The A conservator shall keep suitable records of his the
conservator's administration and exhibit the same on request of
any interested person. A conservator shall also file an annual
report with the court.__A conservator that fails, without a good
reason, to file a completed inventory with the court commits a
civil violation for which a forfeiture of $100 per day for
failure to file an inventory with the court may be adjudged.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill requires a conservator to file an annual report with
the court. It also imposes a fine of $100 for each day that a
conservator fails to file a completed inventory with the court.
