Sec. 1. Policy on illegal fish stocking. Resolved: That the Department of
Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall establish a comprehensive
policy concerning illegal introductions of fish to the waters of
the State. The policy must include measures the department will
use to eradicate species that are introduced illegally, focus on
prevention of illegal fish stocking and create an educational
program addressing the issues of illegal fish stocking within the
Division of Public Information and Education. The department
shall report to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries
and Wildlife by January 4, 2002 on the status of its progress in
implementing this resolve.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Department of Inland Fisheries and
Wildlife to create a comprehensive policy on illegal
introductions of fish to the State's waters. The policy must
include steps the department will take to eradicate illegal
species that are introduced in waters of the State. The policy
should focus on prevention and establish an educational program
on this issue within the Division of Public Information and
Education.
