| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §2169, 2nd ¶, as amended by PL 1997, c. 454, §11, is | further amended to read: |
|
| | A license is issued for a one-year, 2-year or 3-year period. | Licenses for a period in excess of one year may only be issued | with the agreement of or at the request of the applicant. The | fee for a 2-year license is 2 times the annual fee. The fee for | a 3-year license is 3 times the annual fee. The prescribed fee | must accompany the application for license. Licenses may be | renewed upon application and payment of the fees, subject to the | commissioner's rules and regulations. After July 1, 2000, each | license or license renewal expires on December 31st.__If a | license is issued for less than or more than 12 months, then the | fee is decreased or increased proportionately. Licenses | erroneously issued by the commissioner are considered void and | must be returned to the commissioner on demand. |

| | Sec. 2. 22 MRSA §2169, 3rd ¶, as enacted by PL 1979, c. 672, Pt. A, | §56, is repealed. |

| | Sec. 3. 32 MRSA §1851, 3rd ¶, as amended by PL 1993, c. 410, Pt. S, | §4, is further amended to read: |

| | All such licenses run for the current year until the 30th day | of June following the date of the issuance, on which date, After | July 1, 2000, each license or license renewal expires on December | 31st or on the date provided by the provisions of the Maine | Administrative Procedure Act as to license expiration, whichever | date is later, they terminate unless sooner revoked as provided | in section 1802, and must be renewed annually thereafter subject | always to such revocation. If a license is issued for less than | or more than 12 months, then the fee is decreased or increased | proportionately. |

| | This bill will change expiration dates for licenses issued by | the Commissioner of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources for | food or food salvage establishments or beverage manufacturing or | bottling to coincide with the calendar year. This will allow the | Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources to improve | efficiency by issuing one license to entities licensed for | multiple functions. |
