§6811.__Drag width

It is unlawful from December 1st to April 15th for a person to possess or utilize on any vessel fishing for sea cucumbers in the coastal waters a drag or any combination of drags that measures in excess of 5 feet, 6 inches across from one extreme outside edge of the mouth of the drag or combination of drags to the opposite extreme outside edge.

§6812.__Sea Cucumber Management Fund; established

The Sea Cucumber Management Fund is established as a dedicated, nonlapsing fund.

§6813.__Permissible uses

The commissioner may use the Sea Cucumber Management Fund to research and manage the State's sea cucumber resources and to enforce the laws related to sea cucumbers.

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §6851, sub-§§2-E and 2-F are enacted to read:

2-E.__Wholesale seafood license with sea cucumber buyer's permit.__At the request of the applicant, the commissioner shall issue a wholesale seafood license with a sea cucumber buyer's permit.__A person holding a wholesale seafood license with a cucumber buyer's permit may engage in all the activities in subsection 2 and may buy, sell, ship or transport whole sea cucumbers.__A license under this subsection does not authorize a person to engage in the processing of sea cucumbers or to buy, sell, ship or transport sea cucumber parts.

2-F.__Wholesale seafood license with sea cucumber processor's permit.__At the request of the applicant, the commissioner shall issue a wholesale seafood license with a sea cucumber processor's permit.__A person holding a wholesale seafood license with a sea cucumber processor's permit may engage in all the activities in subsection 2 and may buy, sell, process, ship or transport whole sea cucumbers or sea cucumber parts.
