Sec. 1. PL 1997, c. 752, §44 is amended to read:

Sec. 44. Maine Governmental Facilities Authority; resolution for issuance of securities. Pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 4, section 1606, subsection 2, the Maine Governmental Facilities Authority is authorized to issue securities in its own name in an amount up to $85,000,000 $17,500,000 for the purpose of paying the cost associated with the correctional facilities facility construction projects project located in Warren and Windham.

Sec. 2. Commissioner of Corrections to stop prison construction. The Commissioner of Corrections shall terminate any activities involving a correctional facility construction project in the Town of Warren.

SUMMARY

This bill stops the construction of a correctional facility in the Town of Warren and revokes authorization to the Maine Governmental Facilities Authority to borrow money for the project.
