An Act to Provide a Reward for Certain Tax Information

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §5323
is enacted to read:
§5323.__Reward for information
A person who provides information to the bureau regarding a
person or entity that did not pay or that underpaid income taxes
for a tax year is entitled to a reward of 25% of the tax actually
collected as a result of that information.
SUMMARY
This bill rewards a person who provides information to the
Bureau of Revenue Services regarding a person or entity that did
not pay or that underpaid income taxes for a tax year with 25% of
the tax actually collected as a result of that information.
