Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §5815
is enacted to read:
§5815.__Tuition for foster children
The State shall pay tuition to the receiving school under this
chapter if the student for whom tuition is to be paid is placed
in foster care under the custody of the Department of Human
Services in a town with a population of 200 or less that is a
member of a school union.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the State to pay the school tuition costs
for foster children placed in homes located in towns with a
population of 200 or less that are members of a school union.
