Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §4860, sub-§13 is enacted to read:

13.__Equine massage treatment.__A person who is a certified or licensed equine massage therapist may practice equine massage therapy.__The department shall adopt rules regulating the level of education necessary for the practice of equine massage therapy by individuals who are not veterinarians.__Rules adopted pursuant to this subsection are routine technical rules pursuant to Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter II-A.

SUMMARY

This bill allows a person who is a certified or licensed equine massage therapist to perform massage therapy on horses. The Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall adopt rules regulating the education necessary to practice as an equine massage therapist.
