Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §955 is enacted to read:

§955.__Removal of visual obstructions

At the request of a business, the department shall trim, cut down and remove trees and brush located in the right-of-way of a state or state aid highway__that decrease the visibility of the business from the highway.__A business requesting the services of the department in accordance with this section shall reimburse the department for all costs associated with the requested service.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Department of Transportation to remove trees and brush within the right-of-way of a state or state aid highway when a business requests the service to increase visibility of the business from the highway. The bill also requires a business to reimburse the department for any costs incurred.
