| | | Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §2904-A, sub-§5 is enacted to read: |

| | | 5.__Exemption.__A producer that produced farmstead cheese | | before June 30, 1998 is exempt from the sale restrictions imposed | | by subsection 4 if the farmstead cheese sold by that producer is | | labeled to indicate that the cheese is produced from milk that is | | heat-treated but is not pasteurized. |

| | | This bill exempts a producer of farmstead cheese from sales | | restrictions if that producer was producing farmstead cheese | | before the effective date of those restrictions and if the cheese | | is labeled to indicate that it is heat-treated, not pasteurized. |
