Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from the
General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act.

Maine Research Internships for
Teachers and Students program
to provide internship
opportunities in science and
mathematics for teachers and

SUMMARY

 
This bill implements one of the recommendations of the Joint
Select Committee on Research and Development. It appropriates
funds to the Maine Science and Technology Foundation for the
Maine Research Internships for Teachers and Students (MERITS)
program. This funding will allow the MERITS program to continue
and expand the number of teachers and students able to
participate in research internships.
