Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3735-A is enacted to read:

§3735-A.__Child care for teenage parents

The department shall ensure that child care and child care subsidies are available to a teenage parent who does not receive benefits under the temporary assistance to needy families program and who attends high school as long as that teenage parent continues to attend high school.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Department of Human Services to make available child care and child care subsidies for teenage parents who do not receive benefits under the temporary assistance for needy families program and who attend high school.
