Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7432, sub-§2-A, ¶¶C and D, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 283, §2, are amended to read:

C. While trapping in any unorganized place, fails to visit each trap, except for foot-hold traps set for coyote, killer-type traps and water sets, or fails to cause each trap to be visited at least once in every calendar day; or

D. While trapping in any unorganized place, fails to visit each killer-type trap or water set or fails to cause each trap to be visited at least once in every 5 calendar days.; or

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §7432, sub-§2-A, ¶E is enacted to read:

E.__While trapping in any unorganized place, fails to visit a foot-hold trap set for coyote or fails to cause each trap to be visited at least once every 72 hours.

SUMMARY

This bill requires foot-hold traps set for coyote in unorganized places to be checked at least once every 72 hours. Current law requires those traps to be visited at least once a day.
