Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §4303, sub-§2-A is enacted to read:

2-A.__Requests for reimbursement by family practice nurse practitioners.__A carrier offering a health plan in this State shall reply to a written claim submission for reimbursement by a licensed family practice nurse practitioner within 60 days of the submission, regardless of whether the provider is a participating provider in the carrier's health plan.__The reply must indicate whether the carrier will reimburse the provider.

SUMMARY

This bill requires that health insurance carriers respond to requests for reimbursement from family practice nurse practitioners within 60 days of the request for reimbursement.
