Sec. 1. P&SL 1865, c. 532, §4-B, ¶¶G and H, as enacted by P&SL 1997, c. 37, §3, are amended to read:

G. Visibly advocate higher education as a means to strengthen the economy and communities of the State; and

H. Establish mechanisms for review and approval of system programs. ; and

Sec. 2. P&SL 1865, c. 532, §4-B, ¶I is enacted to read:

I.__Ensure that university funds are not used for the financial support or enhancement of a Greek fraternity or sorority.

SUMMARY

This bill amends the charter of the University of Maine System to prohibit public money from being used to support a Greek fraternity or sorority.
