An Act to Abrogate the Rule Against Perpetuities

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 33 MRSA §107
is enacted to read:
§107.__Abrogation of the rule against perpetuities
The rule against perpetuities is abrogated with respect to
interests created by inter vivos instruments taking effect on or
after the effective date of this section or by wills whose
testators die on or after the effective date of this section.
SUMMARY
This bill abrogates the rule against perpetuities for
interests created by instruments taking effect after the
effective date of the bill.
