Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2003, sub-§§17 and 18 are enacted to read:

 
17.__Appeal.__If the issuing authority denies a permit
application, the applicant may appeal the denial within 90 days
after the denial to the Commissioner of Public Safety.__The
commissioner shall decide the appeal within 10 days of receipt of
the appeal from the applicant.

 
18.__Concealed firearms holders from other states.__A resident
of another state who has a concealed firearms permit or has the
legal right to carry a concealed firearm in another state may
carry a concealed firearm in this State without meeting the
requirements of this section.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill allows appeals to the Commissioner of Public Safety
of denials of concealed firearms permit applications. This bill
also allows persons who are allowed to carry concealed firearms
in other states to carry concealed firearms in this State without
having to get a permit to do so in this State.
