Sec. 1. 3 MRSA §313-B is enacted to read:

§313-B.__Testifying before a legislative committee;

disclosure of employment

Prior to testifying before a committee of the Legislature, a person registered to lobby shall disclose if that person is being compensated by a member of that committee either directly or indirectly through payment of dues by the committee member to a union, association, political action committee or organization that provides compensation to the person testifying in exchange for lobbying services.

SUMMARY

This bill requires lobbyists to disclose whether they are employed directly or indirectly by a member of the committee before which they are testifying prior to testifying before that committee.
