Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7076, sub-§15 is enacted to read:

 
15.__Persons with disability.__The commissioner may issue an
archery hunting license to a person with a crossbow who is
recognized by that person's physician, in writing, as someone
whose movement is limited due to a medical condition and is
disabled by that condition.

 
Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §7102-A, sub-§6, ¶A, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 24, §3
and affected by §7, is amended to read:

 
A. It is legal, except as otherwise provided in chapters
701 to 721, to hunt any wild bird or wild animal with a
hand-held bow and arrow during any open season on that bird
or animal and with a crossbow if the holder of the license
is recognized as disabled under section 7076.

 
Sec. 3. 12 MRSA §7406, sub-§17, ¶G, as amended by PL 1993, c. 24, §5
and affected by §7, is further amended to read:

 
G. Hunts any wild animal or wild bird with a crossbow or
set bow except as provided in sections 7076 and 7102-A;

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill allows a disabled person to use a crossbow during
archery hunting season.
