| Sec. 1. Inland, rural tourism promotion. Resolved: That the Office of |
| Tourism and Community Development within the Department of |
| Economic and Community Development, in consultation with the |
| Maine Promotion Council Cooperative, shall develop a plan to |
| promote tourism in inland, rural areas of the State. These areas |
| are predominantly wide open spaces with a long-standing |
| agricultural heritage. The plan must include strategies to |
| identify the regions' agricultural heritage and highlight this in |
| tourism promotion. The plan must be presented to the joint |
| standing committee having jurisdiction over business and economic |
| development matters and to the 119th Legislature no later than |
| January 15, 2000. |
