| | | Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §354-A is enacted to read: |

| | | §354-A.__Recreational access for new and reconstructed bridges |

| | | The construction or reconstruction of any bridge in the State | | must provide for a sidewalk or lane out of the roadway dedicated | | to recreational use and adequate and safe for the passage of off- | | road recreational vehicles.__For the purpose of this section, | | "off-road recreational vehicles" includes snowmobiles, ATV's and | | dirt bikes. |

| | | This bill requires all new bridge construction, as well as | | reconstruction, to provide for a sidewalk or lane dedicated and | | adequate for the use of off-road recreational vehicles such as | | snowmobiles. |
