| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §402, sub-§4, ķA, as enacted by PL 1995, c. 529, §2, | | is amended to read: |
|
| | | A. Signs must indicate that access is prohibited, that | | access is prohibited without permission of the landowner or | | the landowner's agent, or that access for a particular | | purpose is prohibited. |
|
| | | (1)__Each sign must be marked in numerals at least 2 | | inches high with the year in which it is posted. |
|
| | | (2)__The sign posted under this subsection is deemed to | | take effect on January 1st of the year in which it is | | posted and is effective for 5 years from that date. |
|
| | | This bill requires landowners to date signs posting land. The | | signs remain effective for 5 years. |
